Fall for Cotton: I am participating!

My next project in the line is a vintage pattern from 1952: the Butterick Retro B4790. I bought this pattern and the fabric already in March when I decided to take up sewing again. But for various reasons, mostly because I discovered Colette patterns, I haven't come around to sew it, yet! To motivate myself, I decided to take part in the Fall for Cotton challenge organized by Rochelle of Lucky Lucille and by Tasha of By Gum, By Golly. The idea is to sew a vintage garment from 100% cotton only. The challenge is open until end of September and I am sewing along with many others. So hopefully, that will keep me going.

Butterick B4790 is a wrap dress and its supposed to be easy and fast to sew. As you might know by now, my biggest concern when sewing is to get a good perfect fit. And luckily, I found a really good tutorial by Katrina of edelweiss pattern about how to fit this dress. And she is even using the Palmer/Pletsch approach! I couldn't ask for more! Currently, I am tissue fitting the pattern and hopefully by next week I will have the muslin sewn up!

My chosen fabric is a Liberty lawn (copy print) and a red poplin which are both 100% cotton. I am going to sew version A, which has two contrast fabrics. The red poplin will be visible from the front only and the lawn will hug the rest :) Actually, I think the colors are nice for fall and I hope I will get a lot of wear out of it - maybe with a thin black jumper underneath.
